Built in Giza to solve a MENA fleet problem
Octane was founded in 2025 by a team that spent years working on fleet operations and telemetry systems in Egypt. We built the tool we needed but could not find.
The problem was hiding in plain sight
Fleet managers across MENA have access to GPS tracking data, fuel purchase receipts, and odometer readings. What they lack is a system that connects these data points in real time and flags when the numbers stop adding up.
Siphoning happens at depot, at rest stops, and overnight. It leaves a signature in telemetry data that a human reviewing a weekly report will miss. The loss accumulates over weeks before it shows up in the budget reconciliation, and by then the pattern is too diffuse to trace.
We built Octane because the standard fleet management tooling was designed for logistics optimization, not fuel security. The detection logic required was different, the forecasting model required a different data structure, and the integration with MENA's refueling infrastructure required local knowledge. No existing product solved all three.
The Team
The people building Octane
Amr Gamal
Amr worked in fleet operations before founding Octane. He dealt with the fuel reconciliation problem firsthand: GPS data that said one thing, purchase receipts that said another, and no tool that connected the two in real time. He built the original detection prototype from OBD data exports in 2024.
Karim Mansour
Karim built real-time telemetry pipelines for industrial monitoring systems before joining Amr to build Octane. His background in embedded systems and stream processing shaped the detection pipeline architecture, including the low-connectivity buffering system for long-haul routes.
Nour Badr
Nour specializes in time-series anomaly detection and fuel consumption modeling. She has spent years applying machine learning to industrial sensor data, and at Octane she owns the anomaly detection model and the per-vehicle consumption forecasting system.

How we build
Accuracy before speed
An alert that fires on a legitimate engine-load event erodes trust faster than a missed detection. We tune for low false-positive rates. Fleet managers should be able to act on every alert without second-guessing it.
Built for where we operate
MENA fleet operations have specific infrastructure patterns, connectivity constraints, and fuel market characteristics. We do not adapt Western tooling. We build from the operating context we know.
No black boxes
When Octane raises an alert, the fleet manager can see the underlying telemetry that triggered it. We show the data, not just the conclusion. Operators should be able to verify what the system tells them.
